TRAFFIC TICKETS
& YOUR INSURANCE
In Ontario, convictions are either catergorized as major or minor by your insurance company. A major conviction can lead to a huge increase in your premium or even result in the cancellation of your policy. Once labeled a high risk driver you will be placed into extremely expensive facility insurance.
If convicted of an offence, your insurance company can penalize your rates for a minimum of three years. Insurance companies will hold all convictions against you whether they involve demerit points or not. All convictions remain on your record for life. Make sure you know the consequences before just paying a ticket. It could end up costing you thousands of dollars.
